London - DECs
Since October 2008, DECs For Public Buildings (DEC) & Advisory Reports have been a legal requirement.
Public buildings in London require DECs, as do those occupied by public authorities with have a total floor area > 1,000m2 (GIA) and provide a public service to a large number of people, e.g. a hospital or a school.
Your DECs will show the energy performance of a building based on actual energy consumption as recorded annually over periods up to the last three years. The PENALTY is £500 for failing to display a DEC at all times in a prominent place clearly visible to the public and £1,000 for failing to have possession of a valid advisory report. In addition to these penalties, it is still necessary to commission the documents. The DEC is valid for 1 year.
