BS8233 Noise Assessments and Noise Surveys - Launceston
E2 Consultants in Launceston offer an extensive range of services in relation to the measurement and prediction of noise within two primary sectors: Environmental Acoustics and Building and Architectural Acoustics.
More people are affected by noise from transportation sources than any other. For road, rail and air transport, there are established and recommended methods for predicting the noise. E2 Consultants provides all necessary measurements, assessments and technical capability to support the noise and vibration input into an Environmental Statement.
Environmental noise is a major issue in most countries, especially in areas of high population, and the sources of noise and their adverse effects on our well-being are varied. The typical noise sources are from Industrial Sites, Construction work, Road Traffic, Animals, Aircraft and entertainment venues. All of these noises can have different characteristics such as Continuous, Intermittent, Broadband and Tonal.
There is a number of different assessment and standards available:
- Road Traffic noise assessments and Railway Noise Assessments
- Environmental noise studies for major housing schemes
- Industrial Noise (BS4142) Assessments
- Assessment and monitoring of quarries and construction sites
- New Road Scheme
BS8233 Noise Assessments and Noise Surveys
BS8233 Noise Assessments and Noise Surveys are normally requested by a Planning Officer or E.H.O (Environmental Health Officer) due to concerns of increased noise from a noise source located or proposed to be located near residential properties, they are applied for in a planning application to the local authority (Council). The type of noise source could be a proposed mechanical noise e.g. Fans, Air Conditioning Systems, Generators etc.
Our reports clearly demonstrate measured sound levels experienced at the development site which are then compared against British Standards (BS 8233, BS5228 etc), World Health Organisation Standards and the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) to determine acceptability of the measured noise levels.
Where mitigation measures are required to reduce noise to an acceptable level these are discussed and agreed with the Design Team, and then incorporated into the report.
Our range of services within the environmental acoustics sector includes:
- Liaison with the local planning authority and environmental health departments to determine relevant noise criteria.
- Noise and vibration surveys and assessments to characterise a site's ambient climate for planning applications.
- Noise monitoring at existing sites to determine compliance with planning and operational conditions.
- Environmental noise impact assessments.
- Traffic, railway and airport noise assessment, prediction and control.
- Industrial, commercial and retail noise assessment, prediction and control.
E2 Consultants will work for you alongside the local authority to ensure your noise issues are discharged accordingly and that a suitable solution is achieved that satisfies all interested parties. Impact Acoustics assist their client through the application process; liaising with the local authority, conducting the appropriate noise impact assessment / noise survey, compiling the acoustic report, and providing a noise mitigation strategy, if required.
